What is a Scan Rebate Program?

  • Scan data programs enable you to receive rebate payments by scanning products you already sell and enable you to offer brand-funded discounts.

    • Examples of these programs include but are not limited to the Altria Digital Trade Program, RMSC Retail Scan Data Program, and ITG Scan Data Reporting Program.

  • To participate in these offers, store(s) need to be signed up for Scan data through Skupos.

Make sure you have a distribution of products for live/upcoming offers

  • This can be done directly in your point-of-sale (POS) system or through a back-office software (BOS) provider.

  • Please contact your POS or BOS vendor for assistance.

    • For Verifone, Gilbarco, and NCR point-of-sale systems, UPCs need to be uploaded into the “PLU” field.

    • For Clover point-of-sale systems, UPCs need to be uploaded into the “Product Code” field.

  • Don’t have sufficient distribution? Reach out to to your vendors to increase distribution.

UPC Format

  • Make sure all UPCS are in the proper format

  • Verify that all products are uploaded in the 12-digit UPC-A format, and ensure each description is accurately aligned with its assigned UPC.

  • Scan Data reports are composed of products in the UPC-A (12-digit) format. Proper format is necessary for accurate payments and reimbursements.

    • Example:

      • UPC-A: 028200003683

      • Description: MARL RED LABEL BOX

  • Retailers using a Clover point-of-sale system should take extra note of this step because Clovers often utilize the UPC-E (8-digit) format. Mary L: Clover uses 8 and 12-digit UPCs
