This article outlines how to run an engage transaction with a Gilbarco point of sale system.

How to run an engage transaction:

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Scan the Engage eligible items once and change the quantity

  • You can use a softkey to add the items to the basket. 

  • Select “Pay” or “Tender” on the register

💡 Tip! Note that the discount will populate after the payment option is selected and a phone number is entered.

2. Cashier Asks Customer to Input Phone Number

  • The Cashier will then be prompted to select a Loyalty Program to apply to the basket.

  • Press “Engage or Skupos”

  • Then "Enter"

  • Cashier must select the “Manual” button next to the numerical pad on the register.

  • This allows the customer to enter their phone number on the pin pad.

  • Prompt the customer to enter their phone number on the pin pad as a Loyalty Number

3. Verify the Discount and Finalize the Transaction

  • The discount should now appear on your screen.

  • At this point, you can finalize the transaction.

  • Verify that the discount was applied by looking at the bottom of the receipt, where it will read “Discounts Powered by Skupos”.

What if I can’t get any discount to work?

  • Ask your manager to try to run a discount.

  • If they can run a discount ask your manager to review the article below to confirm that discount(s) are properly set up in your POS system.

  • Discounts will only work if offer(s) are properly set up in your point-of-sale system.

What if a customer wants to redeem discounts from two loyalty programs?

  • You will need to run two separate transactions.

Why would a customer want to redeem a discount from two loyalty programs?

  • A customer might want to use Shell Rewards for fuel and purchase an in-store item (tobacco, candy, soda, etc.) with a Skupos Engage discount.

What is Engage?

  • Engage is a loyalty program that provides store(s) with offers or discounts on brands.
