What is Sync?

Sync is Skupos software that connects your store’s point-of-sale (POS) system to Skupos. It lets Skupos collect your scan data (t-log data) so that:

  • Customers get discounts at checkout

  • Tobacco brands can pay or reimburse you each month

Sync is installed either on your back-office computer or a Managed Network router.

What are the (2) different options for Sync?

1. Cloud Sync (Recommended)

  • Connects your POS to Skupos through Wi-Fi

  • More reliable with fewer issues or downtime

  • Reduces store staff involvement

  • Enhances security and keeps your tech up to date

Why Cloud Sync matters:
If you’re offline, Skupos can’t collect your data—this means no payments or reimbursements.

Who can use it:
Stores using Paysafe, Cybera 325, or Mako routers

⚠️ Note: Mako is not yet supported at Sunoco locations.

Benefits of Cloud Sync:

  • 99%+ network uptime

  • Less support needed

  • Smoother back-office tools like PDI Essentials

2. Desktop Sync

  • Connects through your back-office computer

  • Less reliable (issues if your computer goes to sleep or cables are unplugged)

  • We recommend checking your Skupos dashboard weekly to make sure everything’s working

Why this matters:
If you're offline, Skupos can’t collect your data, which means no monthly brand payments.


How do I install Sync?

1. Cloud Sync

  • Skupos Support will guide you through the setup

  • Have one of the following ready:

    • ES Site Number (Paysafe)

    • Cybera 325 Router MAC Address

    • Mako Router ID

If you don’t have this info, Support can help you find it.

2. Desktop Sync

Will upgrading to Cloud Sync disrupt my store operations?

  • No, upgrading to Cybera/Paysafe/Mako Cloudsync is conducted remotely and has no impact on store operations or configurations.

Do I have to install Sync at each location of my store?

  • Yes, every location needs to install Sync.

  • In part, because each location will have different technology stacks (POS, wifi routers, back-office providers, etc.)

Why do I have to install Sync?

  • This software allows Skupos to review your data and get you paid by brands and/or give your consumers discounts at the register.

Why does Skupos recommend that I use Cloud Sync?

  • Cloud Sync has less downtime, so you don’t need to spend much time on maintenance every year.
