Tips

1. Train your cashiers

  • Make sure your clerks know how to run a transaction.

    • Click here for the step-by-step process of running a transaction.

  • Remind your cashiers to ask every customer to enter their phone number at the pin pad.

    • Example in-store employee script:

      • “Please enter your phone number to unlock savings.”

2. Confirm that you have all relevant products uploaded into your inventory

  • This can be done directly in your point-of-sale system or through a back-office provider. Please contact your point-of-sale or back-office vendor for assistance.

    • For Verifone, Gilbarco, and NCR point-of-sale systems, UPCs need to be uploaded into the “PLU” field.

    • For Clover point-of-sale systems, UPCs need to be uploaded into the “Product Code” field. - Please note that as of 1/1/25 PDI will no longer provide support for Clover. Click here for more info.

3. Make sure UPC’s are properly formatted

  • Make sure products are uploaded in the UPC-A (12-digit) format and have a description that is relevant to the assigned UPC.

  • Scan Data reports are composed of products in the UPC-A (12-digit) format. Proper format is necessary for accurate payments and reimbursements.

    • Example:

      • UPC-A: 028200003683

      • Description: MARL RED LABEL BOX

  • Retailers using a Clover point-of-sale system should take extra note of this step because Clovers often utilize the UPC-E (8-digit) format. - Please note that as of 1/1/25 PDI will no longer provide support for Clover. Click here for more info.

4. Ensure all non-fuel products are labeled with a Product Code between 400 and 599

  • This step only applies to those using a Verifone, Gilbarco, or NCR point-of-sale system.

  • Engage discounts will not work if you do not have a Product Code within the 400-599 range.

5. Check your Enrollments through your Skupos dashboard, monthly

  • Skupos is consistently adding offers to your dashboard. Make sure you are not missing opportunities by checking your dashboard monthly.

  • You can also review any offers where your enrollment status might have changed.

💡Tip! We have heard that our most successful sites pick a day to check offers every month. Such as the second Tuesday of the month or the 15th.

6. For Gilbarco sites

  • Make sure the "Discountable" checkbox is checked in each item's PLU card.

  • Engage discounts will not work if the "Discountable" checkbox is not enabled.
