Setting Up New Computers (All Systems)
These steps apply to all systems. Follow these first, then proceed to your router and register specific configuration.
Step 1: Access Network Connection Settings
Choose one of these methods:
Method A:

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced network settings
Select "Change adapter options"
Step 2: Verify Ethernet Connection
Locate the Ethernet connection in the Network Connections window
Check the connection status:
Unplugged: Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends (BackOffice PC and Router LAN port)
Disabled: Right-click the connection and select "Enable"
Unidentified Network: Proceed to system-specific configuration

If you have dynamic IP, keep "Obtain an IP address automatically" selected.

Important: 99% of Acumera setups do NOT require direct connection to the Acumera device.
Step 1: Identify Your Setup

If it's 10.20.30.x: Rare direct connection setup
If it's standard range (192.168.x.x, 10.1.x.x, etc.): Common ISP setup
Step 2: Find Your Register IP (Common Setup Only)
Download Advanced IP Scanner from Advanced IP Scanner - Download Free Network Scanner
Run the scanner
Look for MAC address starting with 00:41:AC
Note the IP address shown for this device
This is your register's IP address.
Step 3: Request Acumera Back-Office Sharing
If you cannot access your register after finding the IP:
Contact Acumera:
Phone: 512-687-7401
Provide: Your location address and BackOffice IPv4 address
Request: Enable back-office sharing and WAN forwarding
Note for Verifone users: Acumera uses a "Link App" for configuration. If it doesn't work, request escalation to Tier 2 for a "Traffic Watch."
Step 4: Use Your Register IP
For Passport: Use the discovered IP in network drive mapping (Step 5)
For Verifone: Use the discovered IP in Config Client URL (Step 6)

CRITICAL: You must contact Fortinet/Hughes Helpdesk BEFORE starting setup to obtain:
IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway
Preferred and Alternate DNS Servers
Correct LAN port number
XML Gateway IP or Verifone Petroleum site IP

Troubleshooting Existing Computers (All Systems)
Power Outage Reset
Problem: Power outage reset your IP configuration
Solution:
Reconfigure your IP settings using the values from Router-Specific Configuration
Re-run the route commands for your system and register type
For Passport: Remap the network drive
For Verifone: Test Config Client access
Ethernet Cable Issues
Disconnected Cable:
Unplug from both ends
Reconnect securely to BackOffice PC and Router
Damaged Cable:
Replace with a new Ethernet cable
