When running a Skupos Engage transaction with a Gilbarco point of sale system, there is a specific order of operations a cashier needs to follow in order to ensure a successful transaction.
💡 Tip: Make sure that the eligible UPCs are set up correctly in your POS system.
You can do this in two different ways.
If You Use Pricebook Software
You’ll need to set up the eligible UPC as “Discountable” through your pricebook software, otherwise, this feature can be overridden when the software updates.
If You Don’t Use Pricebook Software
You can set eligible items directly in your POS system.
Step 1: Head to your Gilbarco home screen. Once there, press “More” on the right-hand side, then “Tools,” and then “Manager Workstation.”
At this point, you may be required to sign in with an Operator ID. If you cannot find your Operator ID or forgot your password, you will need to contact your POS support vendor.
Step 2: Once logged in, press “Pricing,” and then “Item.”
Step 3: Search for the eligible UPC by entering it in manually or scanning.
Once you’ve found the UPC, bring up the edit screen by double-tapping the item or pressing the “Change” button on the right-hand side. Verify that the item has the correct "Department" listed. For all eligible items, this should be non-fuel.
Step 4: Go to the “Options” tab and verify that the item has the "Discountable" box checked.
Step 5: Make sure that each eligible UPC is set up with the correct product code.
For example, tobacco products should be under 0410, all other items should be 0400. Hit “Save.” Complete this step for all eligible UPCs.
Running a Skupos Engage Transaction
Step 1: Scan the Engage eligible items or use a softkey to add the items to the basket.
Cashier selects “Pay” or “Tender” on the register.
💡 Tip: Please note that the discount will populate after the payment option is selected and a phone number is entered.
Step 2: Cashier Prompts Customer to Input Phone Number
The Cashier will then be prompted to select a Loyalty Program to apply to the basket. Press "Engage," and then "Enter."
Next, the cashier must select the “Manual” button next to the numerical pad on the register. This allows the customer to enter their phone number on the pin pad.
Prompt the customer to enter their phone number on the pin pad as a Loyalty Number.
💡 Tip: If a customer is looking to redeem discounts from two different loyalty programs, for example, use Shell Rewards for fuel and purchase an in-store item with a Skupos Engage discount, you will need to run two separate transactions.
Step 3: Verify the Discount and Finalize the Transaction
The discount should now appear on your screen. At this point, you can finalize the transaction.
If you or the customer wish to verify that the discount was applied properly, you can look at the bottom of the transaction receipt, where it will read “Discounts Powered by Skupos”.
